Feels like Friday

Today was a really great day, but I have a confession to make.
I skipped English class today.
Yes... besides senior skip day... I think that is my first class that I skipped for no reason other than I wanted to sleep in. I decided to skip it because I wanted a few extra minutes of sleep, class seems pointless, and I had a design paper to write, and a speech to practice. So I skipped. Then, after practicing my speech a few times and having it down AND writing almost all of my paper... I felt bad for skipping, because I had a lot of time.
There is this conflict inside of me! This is the first sememster in which I have fell asleep in class. TERRIBLE! I know. I feel awful! HOWEVER, staying up till all hours of the morning to finish my design homework causes me to lose needed hours of sleep, and sometimes I just can't help myself. I pay attention for the first part of class, but then the latter is impossible to stay awake through. Yet for the sake of attendance, at least I am in class. My history teacher says "I don't understand why people sleep in class. It is much more comfortable to sleep in bed." I totally agree! And history, in my opinion, has been one of those classes you never need to go to! All the notes are online. All assignments are online. We don't do anything in class but a lecture. For midterm... I studied all the terms listed on the study guide and got a 100%. The class itself is pointless. Same with English, which is just a repeate of my junior year english class (the one I failed the AP test for) so it is pointless as well. My speech teacher says "We give you three skips before you get counted down grade wise, so you might as well take them."
GRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! I don't know what to do! I always save my skips for some dire need for more time for my project, or am dying from sickness. Never just because I can. But if I fall asleep in class... I might as well skip and sleep in bed!
Funny story... I texted my mom the other day asking if I was allowed to skip English. She replied, "You are a big girl, you can decide." (I am sure she knew this would guilt me into going.) So I went. But today I didn't ask. I just didn't go. I think if I feel so guilty that it isn't a good thing to do! But if I am getting absolutly nothing out of class, then why go? So hard to know!
The good thing about skipping however, was my speech (it was on hiking in Colorado). I rushed through it a bit, but other than that, it went extremely well! My teacher and whole class were very impressed and I recieved tons of compliments. It was fun! I hate public speaking, but I can do it :) My professor reminded the class that I was the girl who froze during my first speech (yes... a speech about me... I froze for what seemed like 30 seconds... and then recovered and finished strong, but still.)
And to further my awesome start to the day, design went well. My painting turned out nicely, (pictures will come eventually!), and it was just a good class.
Then... my friend Emily had this great idea to go to the mall! SO my friend Emily, and Shannon, my roommate Sarah, and I all went to the mall after dinner until 9pm. It was tons of fun! I bought a new hoodie, and looked at the adorable puppies, and even had Auntie Anne's!! Mmmmmm. It was so much fun to hang out with them! I took lots of pictures too, so that was great. I will have fun on photoshop later!! Hooray!!
There was so much fun stuff that went on today, and I did well with school... even though I skipped. I am looking forward to this weekend, and hope to get stuff done too!!
So, "Say Hey, it's a good day, even if things aren't going my way. Jesus is Lord and I am saved so, say hey, it's a good day!" - FFH

Critique!!

I was worried.
VERY worried.
I know I shouldn't be, because worry is a sin. It says, "God you are not big enough to take care of me, so I am going to fret over what is to come." I really struggle with that. God Always takes care of me! He holds my future in my hands! I laugh at myself every time I remember that... because somehow I always seem to forget again.

Today I managed to stay awake in all my classes. I have this weekend to get the boat load of work I have to do, so I feel pretty good about it. Also today was my design critique. Now, that was the scary part. This was our midterm. "The Big One". My designs didn't start out very good at all for this project, but eventually I came up with a pretty good idea that I am very proud of. The thing is... I had to re-make my study model which meant that I was a little further behind than other students. I worked as hard as I could, and put in long hours in studio, but all the time I spent didn't seem to do much. I was progressing very slowly. Before I left for home, I almost had my model done... but I still had all my drawings to do. So that was a heavy weight on my mind all through spring break. I knew coming back would mean no sleep trying to finish on time and I was not looking forward to that at all. But I came back anyway! =) My plane was delayed about 2 and a half hours, and by the time I finally made it back (and lost 2 hours because of daylight savings...) it was around 10 pm. I was totally overwhelmed being back at school (and still mad about those people on the plane who stole my window seat... NO I didn't ask them to move...) but my friend convinced me to go to studio anyways. We got there, and it was locked! Too bad... so sad... guess I should just go to bed! SO I did! (Found out later, all you have to do is pull really hard and the door opens... oops...) Because I got to go to bed so early, I was able to wake up early! Well, sort of. 9:30 ish is pretty early! But it was the beginning of a VERY long day. over 24 hours in studio because for some odd reason it wasn't closed (yes I ate some food, but no I didn't get any sleep). I was very upset because my project was not as perfect as I wanted it to be; but there was no way I had enough time to get it up to my standards. So after talking things through with my parents, and understanding I did all I could (thanks mom and dad!) I finished and turned my work in about 2 hours before it was due.

Which brings me back to today. I don't like giving presentations. I didn't prepare very much, but I memorized a little speech to give for my work, hung it up and set down my model. I was nervous, but as my turn came, I actually liked my design, my model didn't look bad at all, and my drawings were pretty nice too! So I gave my speech as confidently as I could, and then gritted my teeth through critique. It wasn't bad at all! The guest professor told me what I needed to think about when designing, made some other points, complimented my drawings (NO WAY!!!) and that was all! Thank-you God!! I was so happy I couldn't stop smiling, or pinching myself to see if it was real! (ok, not really pinching, but seriously! Critiques are a huge big deal!) I wanted to hug somebody and squeeze them so hard... but I had to sit down and give a critique for the presenter after me instead =) OH well!

I am constantly amazed at how good God really is! I have nothing to fear, because He is in control. I know life would be insane if I were in control! Don't worry about me... I am taking plenty of time to stop and smell the roses and see the beauty in these beautiful warm days He is giving!

Back To School!

So you ask, how was your spring break? WELL....
A sat by two old men on the plane, and they were nice but didn't wake me up when the attendants came by with drinks, and I WAS DYING OF THIRST. But, they weren't too far away, so I was able to get my Ginger Ale (my traditional airplane drink...)Phew!
I went to the dentist... my hygienist was very nice, but more interested in the T.V. that was playing Who Wants to Be A Millionaire? My mouth hurt for a week.
I went to play with Jackson and Cooper Finn, and their mom Rebecca, and that was tons of fun! It was great to take some time to visit with other friends. Too bad it didn't last long!
From there, I went to the podiatrist. Waited FOREVER. An appointment that I wanted to end after 15 minutes lasted over 2 hours. The ladies there tried to RIP my shoes in half, and told me I need new shoes. (The only ones they like are ugly shoes that cost half your life's saving...)The doctor numbed up my foot toe with at least five shots and preformed surgery. I thought she was going to tell me what was wrong, and create another appointment for the summer. Nope. Right then and there. Guess it is good to get it over with.
The next day, another doctor's appointment. NOT A FUN VISIT AT ALL!! Long wait... not fun stuff... and then drawing blood for testing.
Oh, and the doctor's appointments didn't end. Had to get my heart tested, and wear a heart monitor for 24 hours. (It gets better!)
The next day I wore a huge T-shirt and big hoodie because I wanted to hide all the wires involved with my heart monitor. I didn't get to shower, but was shopping for shoes anyway. (and LOVING IT... NOT!) My mom and I went to lunch with Aunt Joanne, and it was very fun. Until my mom started talking with a co-worker. I was supposed to go to the architecture firm that I had just sent my application to because my connection was going to show me around and introduce me to people. (remember... no shower, grungy shirt) SO, my mom ran me to the mall, and we eventually found an acceptable outfit. We paid, I changed in the fitting room, and decided I couldn't wear my old shoes. I found a very cute pair at Payless, but they didn't feel very good on my toe. But sacrifices must be made! I tried to "freshen" up in the bathroom, and then we ran over to the firm.
My plane home was delayed quite a few hours, and I really did not want to leave! When on the plane, a couple was already sitting in my row, and TOOK MY ASSIGNED WINDOW SEAT!
When I got back to school I had to pull an all nighter so I could finish my design project on time. But it is not my best work because I had to finish it quickly, and that really bothers me!

So how was break? Well, I loved being home and being with my family. Colorado is so amazing: I love living there. And It was great to have a week off from school. It was very hard coming back, but the craziness mentioned above... it really was not THAT bad =) I was stretched, and annoyed at times, grumpy, and impatient at others, but overall it was nice. I was able to be with my family, hang out with my friends Molly, send in my resume, shop, go to Bryan's swim meet, see my friend Tim, and watch movies and beautiful snow falling (and much more). It really was a nice break.

I should probably explain a little more...
I am having strange experiences with my heart. It sometimes races really fast, and beats so hard that I can feel it through my entire body. It often happens when I am nervous or stressed, but other times it is completely random. My stomach is upset almost every time I eat. I avoid dairy because I am lactose intolerant, but sometimes it hurts when no milk was involved. Thankfully, my blood work came back fine, and there isn't anything wrong with me. :) The heart tests are yet to come, but I know who holds my future and am not really worried about it.

School is great. I don't like not sleeping, but I do enjoy it. It is so hard for me to be far away from home, but I know I can do it with God's help. Please keep me in your prayers!!
ta ta for now!
